Rugby autumn internationals
No thread on these yet......well I guess they don't start properly till England play next week.

But I'm looking forward to these.....not least because I'm taking my youngest to Twickenham for his ( and my) first international.

Wales got an Aussie walloping today...
But the result of the day......maybe the year.....is the Oirish beating the Kiwis at home in......er.... Chicago.

Didn't England play Argentina 7 days ago as well?
The team their coach says are the 2nd best SH team.
Don't think either team has talked of tiredness. I understand Australia rested a few v France in the middle of their run of games.

It's the year after a World Cup. You get all sorts of odd results.

Ireland have a very good team right now. So do we. I'd argue that our strength in depth is greater, but on first 15's it's a very close call. Not sure why that's open to question give the recent results of both teams.

Re: Rugby autumn internationals
I predicted pre match a big win for England, and factored in the Aussies coming off a 7 day turnaround. Because I thought they were good enough to do it. Some would take that as praise.

Same as I predicted the Aussies could do Ireland last week, because we were coming off a bruising game with the ABs. But, I was wrong on that one, we dug deep to win.

How your little mind works, be it some sort of inferiority complex, is your issue and I will leave you with that.

Roll on the 18th March. I will be there.

You do it every time, little comments, this time we had to beat the Aussies because they're 'tired'

What a crock of shit. They didn't look tired, and they weren't when we beat them 0-3 in their back yard.

We beat them because we are a better team, even without so many injured players missing. Don't let that burn you too much.

making a statement and not being able to back it up, sums you up.

It just so badly burns Gilmore to give England ANY credit.

Were the only NH team to have consistently challenged the SH over the years, and after a poor time recently, we're on our way back, and everyone else seems gutted.

Where did i not hand out credit?

Last time a NH team beat the ABs, Saffas and Aussies in the same year was in 2003.

England.

Re: Rugby autumn internationals
So that's the one game then.

Really, well done.

Unlike you, I can hand out credit to another team. I'm sure no one was tired in the one game you have won in the SH.

Same answer June 2016 played most of the game with 14 men and a few newbies

Re: Rugby autumn internationals
I think we did when we won the world cup.

I was talking about it happening in their own back yards, by the way.

Re: Rugby autumn internationals
June 2016. Recent enough for you?

And in 2016 we achieved wins against the ABs South Africa and the Aussies.

Not sure when previuosly a norhern hemisphere team beat the trio in the same year

Yes

Re: Rugby autumn internationals
So, we beat the Aussies because they were tired.

I think the England squad were tired when we beat them 0-3

Have Ireland ever won a rugby match in the SH?

Re: Rugby autumn internationals
Well, it turned out nice again after that alarming opening 15-20 minutes.

THAT SAID, I cannot get my fucking head around the formulaic approach to substitutions.
You've got Ben Youngs absolutely OWNING the game, but as soon as that 60 minute timer goes off it's "OK, time to switch scrum halves".

WTFF??

Re: Rugby autumn internationals
Obviously still way off the kiwi's level, but Jones has done wonders with this team after that last useless cunt.

England 30-16

Aussies running on empty now.
